Jiu-jitsu is control without striking: body position, leverage and holding someone still until help arrives. It's what the job actually calls for, and it's why more departments are adding it to their training.

Why departments train it

After Marietta, Georgia's police department began training its officers in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, officers trained in it were injured 48% less in use-of-force incidents, the people they arrested were injured 53% less, and force was used 59% less (City of Marietta).
